For athletes/teams:
Facilitate seasonal team meetings to educate athletes about mental health and wellness.
Help athletes can recognize the signs and symptoms of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse and other mental health issues.
Teach athletes how to use healthy coping skills to maintain positive mental health on and off the field.
Educate athletes about the importance of self-care and teach effective coping skills.
For coaches:
Provide trainings for coaches on how to identify mental health issues in their athletes, and how to respond appropriately and effectively.
Provide regular consultation sessions for coaches to discuss matters pertaining to athlete mental health
specific to their sport.
Provide tools for coaches to address team conflict, improve team dynamics, and motivate their athletes
to perform at their best level.
Teach effective coaching and communication skills to promote a more positive and affirming sport culture.
For athletic directors:
Consult with athletic directors about promoting a more inclusive and supportive environment within their
athletic department.
Discuss specific strategies athletic directors can use to motivate their coaches to utilize positive communication styles with teams and individual athletes.
Address any incidents occurring within their university/organization/teams and provide suggestions on appropriate responses.
Incidents may include issues such as hazing, abuse, racism, gender issues, suicide, or other psychosocial issues impacting athletes, teams, colleges, or professional organizations.
